This is another in the series of Hal Leonard "Combo Paks" which offer the small jazz ensemble a group of standard as well as classic jazz tunes. The "Pak" usually has four completely arranged tunes all for one price, about $40.00 in most cases. With just one arrangement for jazz combo going for around $20.00 each this is quite a buy.

Each tune is arranged for key of instrument which includes Bb, Eb, C and is complete with full rhythm section piano, guitar, bass and drums. As with any educationally sound combo arrangement there is a conductor's score which includes all instrumental parts. This makes it easy to access individual parts for correcting any mistakes made by the student ensemble.

Frank Mantooth is one of the "special" arrangers on the scene today and his "combo pak" series is just another wonderful help to all schools running a small group combo program.

These arrangements do not have backgrounds or soli sections, but do offer the melody scored and lots of space for all instruments to improvise. Each part has chord changes and the corresponding scale with the written melody under each symbol. This is a wonderful learning tool.

This particular pack, #27 is geared for the Christmas holidays and although you are reading this after the season has passed they will work for next year, and the year after that and ......!

Top trumpet note for all arrangements in combo pak # 27 is written G above the staff.
